GOALS FROM A.ARNOLD, M. SALAH and DARWIN NUNEZ SEALS THE WIN FOR THE REDS:  Liverpool defeated Man City to clinch the FA Community Shield.


Liverpool hold a 1-0 lead over Manchester City at the break in their Community Shield clash. Trent Alexander-Arnold fired the Reds in front in the 21st minute with fine finish after being fed through by Mohamed Salah. It was no more than the Reds deserved for their performance, with City battling to play themselves into the game outside of two half-chances for Erling Haaland.


Haaland battled to get up to the speed of the game in the first half and lacked a clinical edge when he was presented with two opportunities. Pep Guardiola will be looking for an improvement from his team to avoid a defeat in the warm-up to a new campaign

Julian Alvarez scored his first goal for his new club to square things up for his side after trailing by a goal to nil. The Argentine came in as a substitute and scored in the 70th mins to make it one all. 



Penalty to Liverpool; Darwin Nunez header was obstructed by the arms of Ruben Dias as var as to call the attention of the referee to have a closer look at the incident.  Craig Pawson having taking a few seconds to review the incident he had no option than to point to the penalty spot.

Mohammed Salah steps up to take the responsibility. Despite the Man city shot stopper diving the right way, the Egyptian penalty was too powerful, and low for keeper to save. It's Liverpool 2 Man city 1


Darwin Nunez makes it 3- 1 to Liverpool after nodding past Ederson to seal the win for Jurgen Klopp's side.

A well-worked moved involving Salah and Carvalho ends with a deep cross to the back if the post finding Robertson, who then nods it to the path of Nunez, who now applied the final touch with his head.
